They are wearing black,
I can hear them coming.
They cut my chain,
not my flesh.
We run into the night,
I am free.
They give me life.
Far away from terror,
Freed by terrorists…
Dedicated to the brave members of A.L.F. who risk their own
lives to save the lives of those who can’t speak
Freedom for Birds (author unknown)
A tall forest tree is a cockatoo’s home
So why must I stay in this cage all alone?
I’m bored, sad and lonely with nothing to do,
Each day is the same with the very same view.
I watch the birds soaring high over the trees
And I long to fly with them aloft on the breeze,
Seeing new places each wondrous new day,
Swirling and twirling in glorious play.
Just one week ago a stranger passed by,
She saw me and knew that a bird longs to fly.
She asked if you’d think about setting me free.
You said, ‚This bird’s special‘, and wouldn’t agree.
Well if I am special please think how I feel.
I’m not a stuffed toy, I’m alive and I’m real.
I’m not made of stone, I have feeling’s like you.
Life’s not just for human’s this world is mine too.
So now I am hoping and praying you’ll see
That to love a thing truly you must set it free,
For it matters not whether you’re big or you’re small,
A life without freedom is no life at all.
May I Go Now? (
by Susan A. Jackson)
May I Go? May I go now?
Do you think the time is right?
May I say good-bye to pain-filled days
and endless lonely nights?
I’ve lived my life and done my best,
an example tried to be.
So can I take that step beyond
and set my spirit free?
I didn’t want to go at first,
I fought with all my might.
But something seems to draw me now
to a warm and loving light.
I want to go. I really do.
It’s difficult to stay.
But I will try as best I can
to live just one more day,
To give you time to care for me
and share your love and fears.
I know you’re sad and so afraid,
because I see your tears.
I’ll not be far, I promise that,
and hope you’ll always know
that my spirit will be close to you,
wherever you may go.
Thank you so for loving me.
You know I love you too.
That’s why it’s hard to say good-bye
and end this life with you.
So hold me now, just one more time
and let me hear you say,
because you care so much for me,
you’ll let me go today.
For Their Rights
(By Butterflies Katz
Upon seeing them, a smile lights up my face.
They have endearing qualities we should embrace.
Their ecological footprint is hardly a trace
in comparison to that of the human race.
For their rights, a mounting movement makes a case.
They have eyes and a face akin to you and me
Animals feel and breathe, they hear and they see.
They too want to know life’s sweet ecstasy.
Our heart and soul knows they deserve to be free.
Truth compels us to help make it come to be.
They are not commodities for human use.
They were not put here for exploitive abuse.
Their lives have been shockingly put to misuse.
Our oppression of them has no just excuse.
Set the innocent captive animals loose.
Animal abuse lives on every distant shore;
all kinds of horror that our souls would deplore.
We treat these love objects and friends to adore
like enemies; on which we have declared a war.
For their rights, a world’s heroes will rise to the fore.
(by Paul E.)
As morning breaks she quickly runs,
When all the world’s a darkened blur,
As she brings the gift of life to ones
Condemned to die for bearing fur.
No selfish motive reigns above,
No fear of danger stays her hand!
Her mission’s one of selfless love;
No nobler cause in all the land!
The evil furrier stomps like hell.
His victims gone; his profits, too!
The brave young girl is gone as well,
Without the slightest trace or clue.
And as the next night turns to morn,
Out in the tranquil country wood,
Some happy creatures, once forlorn,
Now live in freedom, as they should.
Those Eyes (author unknown)
Your eyes did not comprehend,
The pain and suffering you endured,
With bones broken and bloodied nose,
I looked at your face into those eyes,
The eyes of the dog, fox, racoon,
Total bewilderment I beheld,
Only the beginning,
Of torture so depraved,
Next you would be hung,
Knives would rip your fur away,
Struggle but there is no escape,
Finally pulled from your skin,
Thrown like rubbish onto a pile,
Other species dead beneath,
Your sore naked body would bleed,
Enough strength to lift your head,
You died a thousand deaths,
Never to be saved,
Hell on earth,
Human domination of all living things.
